Dangote to establish cement factory in Ivory Coast
…As Ouattara beckons on Nigerian business investors
Aliko Dangote, the Nigeria business magnate, has expressed determination to commence production of cement in Cote D 'Ivoire as part of expansion plans for the cement factory.
Dangote stated this at the request of Alassane Ouattara, Cote D 'Ivoire president, who at an interactive meting with cream of Nigerian businessmen in Abuja, posited that investment outside Nigeria will boost the country foreign earnings through repatriation of proceeds.
“Actually, we are big in Nigeria and outside we have invested in cement factories outside and we have gotten the approval of the CBN to invest about $3.9 billion outside Nigeria and Ivory coast is one of them. Actually, we had started in Ivory coats before the crisis but now that the crisis is over, we will go back and start the business again,” said Dangote.
The business mogul said the group will also look at other areas of investment as French investors have left the country.
Ouattara had earlier in his address urged Nigerian businessmen to invest in Ivory Coast, stressing that the just-concluded post-election crisis has created business opportunities for the would-be investors.
